There are many ways to lose weight quickly but many of them are unhealthy and can incur serious health issues. At one extreme you have stomach stapling and liposuction and at the other you have a whole host of extreme diets which do nothing better than starve you (not healthy! ) I have developed a foolproof way of reducing weight at an amazing rate. Bet you抮e interested!

The Effects of Alcohol

This method only applies to those of you who like the odd drink or two or three. (Alcoholic drinks, of course). Those of you who do not drink then you will have to concentrate more on changing your diet: watch this blog for further posts. Back to those of you who do like a drink; the solution is surprisingly simple. All you have to do is not to drink a drop for one whole month, and make sure you have a healthy diet (always helps!). I know it is not going to be easy as there is nothing better than a cool refreshing beer at the end of the week or for the wine lovers a glass of the finest with your meal. However maybe I should first enlighten you on the downside of alcohol.

Now I bet you thought the biggest disadvantage of your drink was the hangover the next day or maybe the large amount of stress it puts on your liver and kidneys. Well yes they are pretty bad but we aren抰 looking at that problem at the moment. (Why not? tut tut). But I feel one of the biggest problems is the amount of calories found in your favourite tipple. Let抯 take a look at some of these:

Wine 1 Glass 118ml (4 fl oz) 100 calories (very) approx.
Wine 1 Bottle 750ml (25 fl oz) 635 calories (very) approx.
Beer 1 Bottle 250ml (8.5 fl oz) 102 calories approx.
Beer 1 Large Glass (pint) 180 calories approx.
Beer 1 Glass 354ml (12 fl oz) 145 calories approx.

Please note that the above measurements are approximate as the vast array of alcoholic beverages available do vary a lot in their calorie content. The measurements I have used are the averages.

Calories Stored as Fat

Now these are huge quantities of calories that your body really can抰 use for energy. The body is 4 times more likely to store these calories as fat as the equivalent amount from carbohydrates. In fact the only thing it can do with these calories is store them as body fat. Bad news! So even having the one glass of wine with your meal adds 100 calories to the diet. A big night out may add as much as 1500 calories to your daily diet or more. That is an amount that boggles the mind and could mean that even if you are on a healthy diet your daily calorie intake could be pushed as high as 3500!

Losing Extra Body Fat

So could you stop for one whole month or maybe even 2 months? I have tested this with my clients in the past and the results have been fairly impressive. Although you should realise that because they train with me they have a fairly healthy diet (although I know they cheat behind my back) combined with a very good exercise routine. However even with this in mind I noticed that the clients who were willing to cut out alcohol lost a larger percentage of body fat in that month than normal. In some cases it was 2% extra in body fat lost! Doesn抰 sound much? Well in an adult male weighing 86 kg that 2% is?(just get my calculator out) 1.72kg of weight loss on top of what they were losing with the diet and exercise.

See the Difference!

So you can see why I can confidently say that if you really want to lose weight quickly then stop alcohol for at least a month and you will see the difference. Please make sure that you combine it with a healthy diet as you obviously won抰 lose anything if you just replace alcohol with bad food! The plan is to show you that perhaps cutting down the quantity of alcohol consumed would help keep you in better shape. If after the month you just go back to the old routine then you can bet that you will just put the weight back on. A month off should help encourage a lifestyle change!
