Ingredients you would need are - tsp. olive oil, 1-1/2 to 2 pounds chicken breasts, thighs and drumsticks, 1/2 tsp. kosher salt, 1/2 tsp. Pepper and 1 cup barbecue sauce.

Step 1: To begin with, cut the chicken diagonally into 3 or 4 slices. Make sure that you cut the chicken from both the sides, so that it is cooked properly and absorbs the barbeque sauce well.

Step 2: Now preheat the oven to 350 to 375 degrees F. Meanwhile, take a skillet or a grill pan on a medium high heat, for heating olive oil.

Step 3: Season the oil with salt and pepper. As the grill pan heats up, add chicken and cook until it is seared brown on each side. Get it onto the baking dish.

Step 4: If you do not want to make the chicken heavy when it comes to calories, skip the step 3. Directly spread barbeque sauce on the cut pieces of chicken.

Step 5: By this time, the oven will attain the necessary temperature, so cover the dish containing chicken with aluminum foil and cooked for about 30 minutes. Check after half an hour to make sure that it is thoroughly cooked.

Tip
Check out that there is no pink in the middle. It could be dangerous, as it indicates that it is uncooked. That could lead to food poisoning. So take care and enjoy the dish with brown rice, vegetables and some lovely red wine! This was an easy how to cook BBQ chicken in the oven recipe, wasn’t it? Nevertheless, lets take a look at which style suits barbecue chicken cooking in the oven the best.

Rotisserie Style of Cooking BBQ chicken

That was a direct method of how to cook barbecue chicken in the oven. Besides the direct method, there is also an indirect method of preparing barbeque chicken, that is on a low heat. One of such ways is to cook is rotisserie style cooking. Now Rotisserie style cooking involves roasting where the meat and in this case chicken is skewered on rod (called a spit), which is used to hold food when it is being cooked over fire in an oven or in a fireplace. Its the best way to cook chicken and this method is generally used to cook large chunks of meat. The best part about rotisserie is that it roasts the meat evenly and retains its juices and easily allows the usage of marination or a particular sauce while the meat is getting cooked.

In this kind of cooking, depending on the placement of the rod, it is either horizontal rotisserie or a vertical rotisserie. When it comes to horizontal rotisserie, the spit is mounted horizontally. They are one of the best way to cook whole chickens. A single spit placed or mounted over a grill or an open broiler or a spit mounted in a usual oven is normally the design of a horizontal rotisserie. Such a facility is a common feature of high end consumer ovens.

Vertical Rotisserie is where the heat is convected up from below or from a side, directly. Here, the balance of the loads qualifies less importance than in the horizontal rotisserie. In the vertical rotisserie, there is a better scope for applying marination and different sauces to the meat than the horizontal rotisserie.

When you plan to make a dish using the beet, you need to select a fresh, firm and round beet. It should be deep red in color, with a smooth surface. Always choose small or medium-sized beets. Avoid soft, slimy or depressed beets. There should not be any black or dark sunken spots on the beet. Before cooking the beet, you need to clean it thoroughly in order to remove soil and chemicals if any. Simply scrub the beet with a vegetable brush and wash with water.

There are two common ways to cook the beets, such as boiling and roasting. While cooking the beet, always wear kitchen gloves as beet juice can stain your skin. If your hands are stained during the cleaning or cooking of beet, then it can be removed by rubbing some lemon juice. Always cook the beets lightly, as heat diminishes the anticancer properties of the beet. You can add an acidic ingredient such as vinegar or lemon juice to improve the color of beet.

Boiling the beets: When you choose to boil the beets, then you need not peel the beet. Cut off its tail. Cut the beet into small chunks if you wish. Place the beets in a pot of boiling water. Allow them to cook for about 15-20 minutes, until they become tender. When the beet is tender, you can easily pierce with a fork. Then place the beets in cold water and remove the skin off. Then beets can be sliced or diced as per the requirement.

Roasting the beets: First peel the beets and cut them into small chunks. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place the beets on the aluminum foil and moisten with olive oil and any spices of your choice. Fold the top of the foil to form a tent and then place it in the oven. Another way is to place the beets in a roasting pan. Roast the beets for about 15-20 minutes, until they become tender. Then remove the skin.

Sautéing the beets: Heat 1 tsp of extra-virgin olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add pre-peeled or chopped or diced beets to the hot oil. Stir frequently. Then add little water and cover the pan with a lid. Sauté for about 5-15 minutes.

Steaming the beets: Steaming makes the beets quite tender, without adding fats. Place the peeled and chopped or sliced beets in a steamer. Cook for about 5-15 minutes, depending upon the size of beets. You can cook the beets in their whole form too.

Nutty flavored, mild sweetness and crispy, are what describe the taste of baked or roasted pumpkin seeds. No doubt, pumpkin seeds are found in the food store, but preparing them on your own is also easy and fun. You can cook pumpkin seeds anytime, as they are available throughout the year. And, the seeds are full and more tasty in the fall season, when they are available in abundance. Mentioned below are tips to clean them and cooking methods.

Prepare Pumpkin Seeds
After removing the seeds from the pulp of the pumpkin, you need to clean them before cooking. You can rinse pumpkin seeds under running water and spread them on a paper for drying. Or else, simply wipe the seeds with a damp kitchen towel and dry them. In both the options, make sure that the pumpkin seeds are free of flesh or pulp. In case you prefer a salty taste, boil the pumpkin seeds with a pinch of salt and simmer for about 10 minutes. Strain through a sieve and allow them to dry.

Methods for Cooking Pumpkin Seeds
Once you dry and prepare pumpkin seeds, you can cook them. Following are ways on how to cook pumpkin seeds in the oven, skillet and microwave:

Roasting in Oven
Preheat oven to about 250 degrees Fahrenheit and lay a non-stick foil over the baking sheet.
In a bowl, add dried pumpkin seeds, olive oil, butter (optional) and toss well.
Sprinkle salt and if desired, add seasonings like onion powder, garlic powder and cayenne pepper.
Toss the pumpkin seeds, so that the oil and seasoning are spread evenly.
Bake the seasoned pumpkin seeds in the set temperature for about 1 hour.
Remember to toss the seeds after every 15-20 minute interval.
Remove the roasted pumpkin seeds, cool down and serve.
Toasting in Skillet
Heat a thick skillet over medium heat and melt two teaspoons butter.
Add pumpkin seeds and toast for about 5-6 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
When the seeds are cooked well, they will turn brown in color.
Transfer the toasted pumpkin seeds into a platter and wipe excess oil with a tissue paper.
Sprinkle salt and seasonings and have them.
Cooking in Microwave
In a microwave-safe dish, melt 2 tablespoons of margarine or butter, as per your choice.
Spread the pumpkin seeds in one layer and sprinkle your favorite seasonings.
Place the pumpkin seeds in microwave and set the time at 8 minutes.
Stir the pumpkin seeds after every 2 minute interval and microwave till they turn golden color.
Cool down the cooked pumpkin seeds and serve.

Leeks are mainly used in soups and broths, but, can also be used in various other food recipes. cooking leeks in soup enhances the flavor of the soup. You can steam, boil, stir fry, bake or roast leeks, as per requirement. Young leek leaves can be chopped into very small slices and can be used in salads. Unlike green onions, leeks have to be cooked carefully, so as to avoid under cooking, which makes it inedible, overcooking, which makes it slimy and mushy and browning, which makes the vegetable tough. As leeks are more solid and crunchy, when compared to green onions, cooking is done to make it softer and milder (in flavor). The following tips are about how to cook leeks in different ways.

Preparing Leeks for Cooking

Now, you know that leeks can be cooked in various ways, like, steaming, boiling, stir frying, etc. You have to purchase fresh leeks and clean it before cooking. Leeks come in bundles of two to four pieces. Go for the thinner ones, as leeks, which are wider than four inches can be tougher. You have to peel off the outer white layer and the discolored leaves. Even the dark green-colored leaves at the top part are also removed. Remove the roots and cut the vegetable through its center (vertically). The next step is to clean it under running water. Slightly pull apart the leaf sheaths, so that the soil inside is removed. Once the vegetable is cleaned, you can cut it as per the requirement. After chopping or slicing, clean it once again, by putting the pieces in a colander and keeping it beneath running water. Read more on how to cut leeks.

Cooking Leeks in Butter

Buttered leeks is one of the popular dishes made of this vegetable. In order to make buttered leeks, you need around 500 grams of leeks, 2½ teaspoons of butter, salt and black pepper. After trimming, the leeks must be around 400 grams in weight. Clean and chop the trimmed leeks into one inch pieces. Turn on the stove and place a frying pan over medium heat. Add butter to the pan and once it melts, put the chopped leeks and seasonings. Stir it for a few minutes and then let the leeks cook for another five to ten minutes. Don’t use lid, while cooking leeks, but, make sure to stir it occasionally. You buttered leeks is ready to serve. Now, you know about cooking leeks in butter. Let us take a look at how to cook leeks in oven.

How to Cook Leeks in Oven

You can bake or roast leeks in oven. Clean the leeks and keep them in boiling water for eight to ten minutes. Drain the leeks and keep aside. Now, melt butter (one ounce) in another pan and add two tablespoons of flour and mix well. Once the butter and flour combine in an even manner, add one tablespoon of grated cheese, half-pint of stock and salt and pepper (as per requirement). Stir well and boil the mixture for around four to five minutes. Now, arrange the leeks on a baking dish and pour half of the prepared sauce over it. Add more grated cheese and sprinkle some cayenne pepper too. Keep the baking dish in the pre-heated oven and bake till the contents get a golden brown color. You can remove the dish and pour the remaining sauce, before serving.

If you want to know about cooking leeks in microwave, the following tips may help you. Take a microwave dish and add some water (around two teaspoons) and cook for about five to seven minutes on high. Make sure to stir the leeks once or twice. You can steam leeks in a steamer basket too. In case of whole leeks, it will take around fifteen to twenty minutes (for steaming), whereas sliced ones need only five minutes. For cooking leaks in soups, fry the sliced leeks using butter, for around ten minutes, before adding any other ingredients. Stir the leeks constantly to prevent browning. Once, the leeks become tender, add other ingredients and cook well. Some people add the ingredients, like the sliced leeks and potatoes together and fry them for making soups.

The trouble with ordering food in an Italian restaurant, like ones in the US, is that the manager of the restaurant needs to cut down the number of dishes they can serve so that the food can be ready in a timely fashion after you order. What happens often, then is the food that is distinctive but not so well-known gets left off the usual menu.

And because Italy is full of small but very diverse areas, this means that most of the great regional dishes simply are never available on the menu. A great case in point is food from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia area. This is a place right next to the border of the former Yugoslavia and when you mix that culinary influence in with the Italian love of cooking, you get some fabulous dishes that most people outside of Italy have never been able to sample.

Because this region shares a border with the former Yugoslavia, the Italian food here is strong with Austrian, Hungarian, Slovenian, and Croatian influences. One of places that this is most apparent is in the beer halls of the area, places you might more typically associate with Germany or Austria. Here they feature such dishes as Viennese sausage and goulash.

Goulash, which originated as a Hungarian dish, has taken on a distinct Italian taste here and can often be found in fine Italian food restaurants both in and out of Italy. Goulash is very popular in this region and is a thick stew of beef and local vegetables such as onions and red peppers. It is very thick and seasoned with paprika and can be served with pasta. Another dish that makes a frequent appearance at the beer halls in this area is Bohemian stew made with either rabbit or beef.

But, the meat used most often in dishes form this region is pork. And if you are ever visiting this are, make sure you sample one of their world famous San Daniele del Friuli hams. These hams are a staple meat of the local Italian food. The whole region is known for their spicy bacon and sausages. In fact there is a local dish called jota that is unique to the region and is a stew dish made with beans and bacon. But this is so very different from the kind of dish served in the southern areas of the United States. The pork in this area is spicy and this may come as a bit of a shock to foreigners not familiar with this brand of Italian food. The pork is often cooked over an open hearth instead of being roasted, and is seen in many dishes even if it is not the main entree.

There are so many kinds of Italian food that are not pasta with tomato sauce, that it is hard to be able to try them all in one lifetime; but you could certainly try. Because good food is meant to be good fun.

The first thing is, like with any meal you are preparing are the quality of the ingredients. When you go shopping for pasta make sure you are buying a good brand that uses only quality ingredients. For instance, if buying the dried type you should only buy brands that use pure semolina flour. Anything else will just taste like counterfeit food.

A high quality pasta has a rough surface. The texture will determine if it will be able to hold onto the sauce that it is served with. Smooth pasta is an instant indicator that you are dealing with an cheaper brand and you want to avoid this at all costs. Much of the flavor of this kind of meal is in the sauce, and if yours falls all over the plate instead of sticking to the food, you will be sorely disappointed. You want to make sure the pasta you use is dense and heavy for its size.

You really want to make sure to avoid the mass produced versions. If you don’t avoid them, you will set yourself and your guests up for an unhappy meal. Like any kind of fresh ingredient you want to make sure you check the expiration date because unlike dried pasta, the fresh does not have a long shelf life.

Just take a minute to look at the noodles that you get. If it looks cheap then it is. If it looks to have a good quality color and texture and is heavy for its size, then that is the pasta that will give you the best tasting Italian food.

When its time to do the cooking, make sure you don’t overcook by boiling for too long a time. Mushy pasta is never good. For good tasting dishes you want the noodles to be tender, yet firm to the teeth. Make sure you use a large pot with a lot of water in it. Bring the water to a boil and then liberally add salt. If you don’t salt the water then the pasta will taste bland compared to the sauce it is served with.

After you put the salt into the pot, heat the water to a rolling boil and add the noodles. With plenty of water in the pot, you have the best chance of making sure your pasta does not stick to the sides of your pot. This helps it cook evenly and all the way through.

To be really authentic, take a cup of the water you used for boiling and add that to your sauce for a real honest flavor. Don’t forget to not rinse the cooked noodles, otherwise you will be stripping away the flavor of your Italian food.

Even more so than other cuisines, preparing is fun when done right and it is so important to remember that good food is meant to be good fun.

A diet plan that typically encourages an 80-10-10 rule with at least 80% of the diet coming from fruits and no more than 10% from protein, no more than 10% fats (seeds and nuts). Choosing the right kinds of seeds and nuts is essential. For example, flax seeds are an excellent source of Omega-3’s and Red Star Nutritional Yeast with vitamin B-12 is a fantastic addition when it is sprinkled over sliced fruit or a salad.

Vegan or Not?

Though the majority of raw food dieters are entirely vegan, some people choose to include raw, nonpasteurized milk, raw meats and raw fish or raw egg. There can be significant health hazards in consuming certain animal products in their raw, uncooked form. As it is, our society tends to consume too much protein. The most healthy and supported form of this diet is entirely vegan.

Another popular method for encouraging the maximum nutritional benefit in raw grains and legumes is sprouting. Using a combination of moisture and warmth, sprouting leads to increased metabolic energy. Numerous resources are available on the benefits of sprouting if you are interested in learning more. It can be a fantastic method to add to your raw food arsenal.

Raw Food Diet Plan Meal Suggestions

There are numerous recipe books available for these diets that are full of creative and fun methods that make a raw food diet plan interesting and fun. Though you do not need any fancy kitchen gadgets, it can make your meal planning much easier if your kitchen includes a blender, a high quality juicer and a dehydrator.

Breakfast for raw food eaters typically consists of a few pieces of fresh fruit, a fruit-seed-nut smoothie or even muesli (raw rolled oats, dehydrated fruit and nuts).

There are a number of raw food products available in health food stores if you like to snack or if you travel frequently and need on-the-go items. The next time you visit your grocery store, ask your grocer if they carry any pre-packaged raw food items. If they do not, encourage them to consider stocking a few that you would like to try.

A Great Raw Deal!

Main meals for this diet plan usually include hearty salads, cold soups, sprouted-legume loaves and creative versions of cooked favorites like raw chili or raw tomato sauce over vegetable curls. It is important to remember to diversify your fruits to ensure a wide variety of vitamins, minerals and nutrients in your daily diet.

If you are not a fan of dark leafy greens, consider juicing them along with a few pieces of fruit to mask their flavor. If you are looking to save money, make your own snack bars out of chopped dates, fruit, seeds, raw grains and a touch of fruit juice instead of purchasing premade raw food bars.

This diet is healthy, smart and easy to implement if you use a little creativity in your meal planning. By cutting out the fat, toxins, preservatives and needless sugars, your body will become lean, efficient and more energetic than it has ever been.

There is such a large variety of ways that you can cook up eggs. Some people like to scramble their eggs. When you scramble them you can just eat them plain or you can add some cheese for a little extra flavor. You can also fry them. Some people like their eggs fried longer then others. It all just depends on the person. You can also boil your eggs as well. Of course when you boil eggs, you boil them in their shells and then peel the shells off after they have cooled. Another good way to eat eggs is by making a sandwich with them.

Most people eat eggs for breakfast. They pair well with other breakfast foods such as sausage, ham, bacon, cereal, pancakes, waffles, or potatoes. Toast is another good item that you can pair your eggs with. Pretty much, eggs will go with anything you wish to eat for breakfast. They are a very versatile meal.

Eggs are also great for dinner. You can just cook them up and eat them with other breakfast foods for dinner or you can switch it up a little bit and make eggs to go with pork chops or steak. Whatever you choose, it is your choice. Eggs are just so quick and easy to make so eggs are great to make on nights when you are running short on time or just have no idea what to make for dinner.

Kids can really be picky about the foods they eat but most kids seem to like eggs. Some kids only like fried eggs though and some may only like boiled eggs or scrambled eggs. Since eggs are so easy to make you can easily cook up a few different types of eggs so that you can please all the children in your family.

If you feel like eating breakfast out than remember that a lot of restaurants make breakfast foods. They usually serve all kinds of eggs. They also usually have a nice breakfast buffet with all kinds of breakfast foods to choose from. This is good for the whole family because everyone is sure to find something they will like to eat.

Eggs are a pretty healthy food to eat. They are part of the dairy group, as they usually come from chickens. Some people with high cholesterol problems might want to eat eggs a little less than other people because eggs can be pretty high in cholesterol. Eggs do have calories in them as well but they have a pretty reasonable amount so they should not be too bad for you if you are on a diet.

Edible eggs are such a simple and delicious food. You can cook them in so many different ways. This makes it easy to please everyone in your family and makes for a simple meal when you are running short on time.

Family gatherings would not be complete without an array of delectable steak dishes. Prime cuts of beef, pork even fish compels us to grill and commit less grilling mistakes. Besides, everyone appreciates a well-rounded meal, which is made more perfect by a nice selection of beef cuts and marinated ribs.

Gas grilling steak tips often starts with selection of food items. This first tip will take us to a journey of choosing Fillet Mignon above the rest. Fillet Mignon is a steak cut out of a prime beef. This may cost you a little over your budget but is truly worth it.

Second, season and marinate. Use only the best spices and herbs. For special occasions such as weekend getaways, there is no other way to go but prepare special dishes. It has been said that marinating is often disregarded as part of gas grilling steak tips, all because everyone is so crazy about burning coals and ashes.

Third, food preparation may be great and that includes marinating meat before grilling. However, there will be no rib-eye or T-Bone in your plate if you fail to fire up that grill. As an essential component of gas grilling steak tips, you have to know when to cook the items and how to raise those flames. A high temperature is often required in grilling. More so, grilling the steak for roughly two minutes per side is an ideal requirement. Are you afraid of flare-ups? Worry no more as long as you know how to spray water. After which, carefully flip the steak cut and place it onto the grate.

Fourth, decide whether you want your steak rare, well-done or medium rare. To check the doneness of the meat, avoid piercing the steak before or while grilling. A relatively known procedure is also used to determine doneness and is as effective as the other gas grilling steak tips. Just give your steak a slight push, and from there you can tell whether it is firm, well-done or medium-rare.

In the end, avoid the hassles of burnt meat come weekend. Enjoy your leisure time with loved-ones and friends. Be your own chef and start grilling. And with this list of gas grilling steak tips, you’re on your way to gastronomical bliss.
