Make Almond Milk at Home

Ingredients
•1 cup Almonds (sweet variety)
•4 cups Boiling Water
•4 cups Filter Water
•Cheesecloth
•Flavoring Agent
Procedure
•Put 1 cup of almonds in a big bowl.
•Pour 4 cups of boiling water over the almonds and set aside the bowl for 5 minutes.
•Drain the water and skin the almonds.
•Skin the almonds by pinching them between your thumb and your index finger.
•Keep these almonds in an air tight jar with 4 cups of filtered water.
•Keep the jar overnight without disturbing it.
•The next day, blend this water and almonds till you get a smooth mixture.
•Cover a big bowl with the cheesecloth and strain the mixture through it.
•The milk will be strained in the bowl and the pulp will remain in the cheesecloth.
•You can use this pulp as a spread on bread or this pulp can be included in a number of recipes.
•If you want to, you can add flavor to this almond milk. Flavors like maple syrup, honey, cocoa or coffee powder can be added to this milk.
•Ensure that you use up this milk within two days and store it in an air tight jar. It’s best when it’s fresh.
Tips
•Ensure that you choose the sweet variety and not the bitter variety of almonds. The distinction between the two is easy. The sweet almonds are longer and narrower than the bitter ones.
•If you get skinned almonds, your work will become easier.
•If you have a gear juicer, use it to blend the milk. You will not need a cheesecloth to strain the mixture, in that case.
•Do not add the flavoring if you want to use the almond milk in smoothies.
